NDDC Explores Strategic Partnership with Origin Tech Group After Tour of Lagos Food Hub and Automotive Plant

The Executive Management of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), led by Sir Victor Antie, Executive Director, Projects, made a project sites tour to the Lagos Central Food Security and Logistics Park (LHP), in Epe, the Middle Level Market (MLM) in Idi-Oro, Mushin and Origin Automobile Works (OAW) in Surulere respectively.

This project sites tour is focused towards realising NDDC’s goal of establishing concrete plans for effective collaboration between the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and Origin Tech Group, the technical partners for the building of the Lagos Central Food and logistics hub, renowned as the largest food systems and logistics hub in sub-Saharan Africa and the development and operationalisation of a similar food systems and logistics hub in the Niger Delta zone in line with the commission’s commitment to solve food security and sufficiency, this also aligns with the

Executive Order of President Bola Tinubu’s government’s commitment to strengthening the food security and invariably building a self-reliant Nigeria.

During the tour, Prince Samuel Joseph Samuel, Executive Chairman, Origin Tech Group Nigeria highlighted the company’s critical contribution to national growth and development through collaborations with the Lagos State Government towards reorganising the food systems, including the Lagos Central Food Hub (LHP) and the Middle-Level Markets (MLM) as well as a recent partnership with the Niger State government covering the supply of tractors, harvesters and other implementers. “We are honoured to host the leadership of the NDDC and to engage in discussions that is expected to equally revolutionalise and reorganise the Niger Delta zone’s food systems and logistics sector”. “This project tour re-affirms the current government’s dedication to creating a thriving environment for food security, driving economic progress, and enhancing our local farmer’s capabilities and prosperity.” Samuel stated. The delegation was later taken on a tour across several nodes of the logistic hub’s facilities.

During the tour, Sir Victor Antie, commended Origin Tech Group Nigeria stating that he has been awed by the realities the team met on ground across the LHP, the MLM and the OAW Assembly plant, calling it a significant advancement for the nation’s agricultural and organised food systems future. ‘’Seeing is believing, I have been awed by the realities that my team and I have witnessed here today beyond the imageries that we have been seeing online about this project’’. “This visit puts into motion the beginning of a meaningful strategic and technical partnership for the development and operationalisation of our planned Food and Logistics Hub project in the Niger Delta zone.’’

Similarly, the delegation toured the pioneering MLM facility at Idi-Oro in Mushin and later Origin Automobile Work’s automotive assembly plant in Surulere, where they observed and engaged several assembled tractors and vehicles from the Origin Automobile Works first-hand. The visiting delegation included Dr. (Mrs) Winifred Madume, Director, Agriculture and Fisheries, Mrs. Kunemofa Asu, Director, Finance and Supply, as well as Hon. Ese Ovie, Chief Consultant to NDDC.
